about

Taken from kubusschnitt.bandcamp.com (where you can find a much cheaper download of the album ;-) )
"Yes, yes, we are still working on a full Kubusschnitt album, but sometimes things get in the way, like life, work and that pesky virus. So, to keep you interested here’s a release from Tom and me (Andy) under the name Penterakt. We were going to go for some strange combination of upper and lower case letters alluding to Belgium and the UK, but that would have been just too wEIrD.

These four tracks were created before, during, after and again during lockdown and passed between us - at this point it’s difficult to tell who played what as there’s quite a bit going on. There’s even a slightly different mastering method on this release, so it really is pointing to that future full release with all of that additional goodness that Ruud brings to the music.

All four tracks are based around a live sequencer recording, with the other parts added after that initial recording. Only analogue synths were harmed during those initial sequencer recordings - after that, all bets were off, so it’s a real mixture of instruments.

We hope that you enjoy it, do let us know if we’re doing something right."

Credits, thanks and recommendations:

Tom and Andy used the TGM technique on this release, and we both think it worked rather well.

Cover photography by Owann Photography and NASA, composited into surreality by Tom.

If you want more music while you wait for the next Kubusschnitt album, you can always check out Andy’s The Soviet Space Dog Project (sovietspacedogproject.bandcamp.com) or Tom’s hyperkube (hyperkube.bandcamp.com) to see who exactly is more into 70s TD and who prefers 80s TD.
